Where is elwynn forest

It'll hang back and pelt you with fireballs, which hurt. Be at least level 8 before coming here, though I heartily recommend level 9. As you head deeper into the mine, past more clusters of Kobolds, you realize the deepest parts of the mine aren't even in the Kobold's control.

Mine Spiders have taken over, and they can poison you. They can be managed at level 9. The very back chamber of the mine is occasionally home to Mother Fang, a named mob and a level 10 spider. I would recommend level 11 just to be safe. That back chamber is often thick with arachnids and getting her alone is difficult. Comment by Allakhazam yeah, That guy is pretty rare..

Comment by Allakhazam Can't seem to find any info on the Taskmaster in the mine. He's much higher level than everything else. Is he part of some quest? Comment by Allakhazam Replete with untouched veins of ore and kobolds alike, the Fargodeep mine is not as deep as its name suggests.

But it's deep enough to get lost in. Treasure chests are common sights both inside and outside the mine, but the grimy kobolds protect them with tooth and nail. Within the cavernous interiors of the mine, adventurers often run into the greedy Goldtooth who is known throughout Elwynn for his kleptomania.

Some of those who have returned from the deepest chambers of the mine also report seeing Narg the Taskmaster himself leading the kobold mining operations. Narg is the leader of the kobolds in Elwynn Forest and is an elite foe to be sure. There are trainers inside the larger squarish building, as well as weapon and armor vendors.

The forest surrounding the Westbrook Garrison is home to passive boars called Longsnout. Fight them if you're level 10 or higher. They're one of the most powerful passive enemies in the Elwynn Forest region. Also keep an eye out for Riverpaws if you approach the river near the Garrison. They can be challenging if you're under level 9 or so.

Edited, Sat Aug 20 Comment by Allakhazam Garrison is spelled wrong in the header of the page not in HTML code heading, the "real" heading. One too many Rs. The mine itself is populated by Kobolds. All the Kobolds inside are workers and laborers, and nonhostile. It's a great bridge between fighting the wolves outside and fighting the Defias across the river.

Comment by Allakhazam I'm a newbie, but I got totally pwned in this area by the mobs. Then again, I was going in there solo as a level 7 human warrior. Retrieving my corpse time after time got to be rather annoying. Listen to the warnings and avoid this place until you can take on the numerous mobs here. Comment by Allakhazam The lake itself is surrounded by a dense forest filled with Prowlers, and there are camps of humanoid enemies at certain points near the lakeshore.

The northwest corner, tucked away in a seldom visited area, is home to an expansive Gnoll Riverpaw campground, and around the entire southeastern side of the lake is an even bigger Murloc camp I think it qualifies as a town. This area is a definite no-go for anyone below level 10, and even then, it's not really fully explorable until you get near level If you do get a chance to explore, try to get to the chests that spawn in the various encampments.

They're filled with valuable items. The monsters here are also known to drop uncommon items every once in a while. Comment by Allakhazam Can anyone tell me how to get to this pumpkin patch from Goldshire or the McClure farms, I've got a big pig to kill?

Comment by Allakhazam Located roughly across the path from the Tower of Azora, the Brackwell Pumpkin Patch probably belonged to some poor farmer who was run out of his home by the heartless Defias that now occupy the area. There are Defias Bandits crawling out of the woodwork. They patrol around the perimeter of the pumpkin fields, and even inside the barn at the north end of the farm.

Adventurers may also need to contend with the odd Young Forest Bear. There are Rockhide Boars surrounding the area, as well, but they are of little threat. Plodding across the pumpkin patch are Princess and her two Porcine Entourages. Acting as her bodyguard, these diminuitive boars will put up a fight if challenged. Adventurers are often tasked with slaying Princess for her gluttonous ways. Far more threatening than pig groupies are Morgan the Collector and his henchmen, who are up to no good inside a cottage on the farm premises.

Stormwind Guards have come across evidence that they are involved in a plot to take the gold mined from Elwynn's quarries and use it for their own insidious purposes. If you recover any evidence that this is in fact true, you may be asked to slay the Collector himself. Comment by Allakhazam Crystal Lake, located to the east of Goldshire, is a peaceful lake.

At least, on the surface. Mangy Wolves and Forest Spiders prowl the edges closer to Goldshire, but intrepid travelers who chance a swim through its waters should be careful. Murlocs and Murloc Streamrunners populated those small villages, and even an experienced player can fall prey to collected groups of Murlocs. Sometimes travel here is a necessity, especially when crystal kelp needs to be collected, but caution is the word of the day.

Be wary when in this area. This area is the territory of the Riverpaw Gnolls, intelligent dog-like creatures with a tendency to swarm unwary travellers. Their commander, Hogger, is an elite foe who has been causing the Stormwind Guard plenty of problems. A bounty has been posted, promising to reward adventurers who slay him. These quaint woods are also home to the peaceful longsnout, some of the largest boars in all of Azeroth.

Comment by Allakhazam The Heroes' Vigil is a large monument hewn of dark stone that stands for the most part on the island located in the middle of Stone Cairn Lake. The island is controlled by Defias Rogue Wizards who are in the midst of studying the monument for insights into dormant magics once invoked in its creation. Comment by Allakhazam This is definitely the most dangerous area in all of Elwynn Forest.

This is also most likely the Defias' main base of operations, which should give you an idea of how guarded it is. This area, sandwiched between Brackwell Pumpkin Patch and The Maclure Vineyards, is not a farm, but instead mostly plain forest. This part of the forest, however, is roamed by bands of Defias bandits, nosy Young Forest Bears, and even the odd Rogue Wizard. This adds up to an area that players under level 11 should steer clear of, due to all the linking mobs. The real danger is near the small building at the riverside.

This is where the Defias bring all the stuff they steal and pickpocket from the poor farmers and peasants of Elwynn Forest. Defias Dockworkers travel in groups of three around this dock, and they're all level 9. However, if you pick a fight with one, you pick a fight with all of them. Fighting three of these guys at once, plus the risk of attracting additional bandits, is something no one below level 12 should try.

It gets worse. The Defias Dockmaster inside the small building is level 10, and attacking him causes two or three Defias Bodyguards to attack you along with him, and they're also level I would seriously advise against this unless you're level 15 or above.

You can take a pounding, and if the Dockworkers outside take notice, things can get very ugly very fast. Fortunately, you're not required to head into this area very often. Cherish it, and stay away unless you don't mind risking life and limb.

Comment by Allakhazam Mirror Lake is a rather nondescript part of Elwynn forest, located west of Goldshire, south of Stormwind's gates, and north of Westbrook Garrison. History Goldshire. Elwynn Forest has changed hands twice in the history of the conflict between the Alliance and Horde. During the events of the First War, the Orcs took hold of Elwynn as they besieged and eventually captured Stormwind, and razed the forest for its resources. It was not until the Humans struck back during the Second War that Elwynn was re-forested and populated once more.

Elwynn is also a staging ground for the Defias Brotherhood, a group of disgruntled workers-turned-bandits who seek vengeance for their exploitation during the rebuilding of Stormwind after the Humans recaptured it from the Orcs.

The resources culled from the bountiful woods helped fuel the Horde's war machine. Much of the forests were razed as the orcs marched across Elwynn. The town of Goldshire and the Abbey at Northshire were both tragically destroyed. When the humans of Stormwind finally retook their city at the end of the Second War , they regained Elwynn as well.

It cost the kingdom of Stormwind a significant amount of gold and resources to rebuild their broken homeland. As a result, the kingdom's economy has flagged since it was rebuilt. Many of the middle and lower classes became fed up with high taxes and unpaid labor in service of the kingdom. Many of these dissidents defected to form the Defias Brotherhood led by the Stonemasons Guild , the architects who reconstructed Stormwind and weren't paid anything.

The Brotherhood reaches into Elwynn Forest from time to time, preying on lone travelers, although their main center of operations lies somewhere in Westfall.

Yet, against all the odds, Elwynn has returned to much of its former majesty and glory. Northshire Abbey was rebuilt and has become a recruiting center of sorts for the Stormwind army. Goldshire and its famous Lion's Pride Inn have returned to their former glory as a bustling hub of activity.

Today, the only reminders of the Horde's occupation are a few scattered orcish catapults, broken and rotting. Meanwhile, the humans of Stormwind rejoice as Elwynn once again becomes the pride of the Kingdom of Stormwind.

This section concerns content exclusive to Cataclysm. Though the majority of Elwynn remained untouched during the devastating Cataclysm, the Northshire Vineyards were not as lucky. The Defias that once roamed here harassing the settlers have all been killed, and the area burns as Blackrock orcs harry the countryside. The Blackrock Orc. The Defias Brotherhood had camps throughout Elwynn Forest , but with the ascendance of Marshal Gryan Stoutmantle and the Westfall Brigade having largely crushed the Defias in Westfall , not even a few scattered ruffians remain.

There are rumors the Defias had a relationship with the kobolds in Elwynn Forest, enlisting them to collect gold from the mines. They may have been associated with the Riverpaw Gnolls along the border of Westfall.

The Westbrook Garrison still sends out patrols to search for thieves entering Elwynn Forest from Westfall. Elwynn lies below the southern foothills of Blackrock Mountain. The forest is a labyrinthine mixture of rushing rivers, various lakes, gold mines, and forests of magnificent trees and lush glades. Its rich farmland is a result of frequent rains.

Recently several of the lakes have been found to be inhabited by hostile murlocs. Stormwind City itself sits proudly in the northwestern hills of the region, its gates opening down onto the Forest. Bears, wolves, spiders and boars constitute the bulk of the region's large wildlife. The creatures are hostile everywhere except for Northshire. The roads leading from Stormwind and Northshire converge to the southeast just north of Goldshire.

Goldshire is Elwynn's largest settlement besides Stormwind itself. Eastvale is the center of Elwynn's lumber industry. On the road from Goldshire to Eastvale is the Tower of Azora where mages conduct arcane experiments in seclusion. On the road to Westfall from Goldshire is the imposing Westbrook Garrison.

This barracks and surrounding grounds house a number of the Stormwind Guard, and protects Elwynn's western border. Dotted throughout the forest are small farmsteads growing crops such as wheat, pumpkins, melons and grapes.
