Nestled along the Tomoka River and the Intracoastal Waterway, Tomoka State Park is a great family destination full of adventure and rich in history. Originally home to the Timucuan Indians, this acre peninsula offers campsites varying in tent camping, RV hookups and primitive group campsites. Restroom and shower facilities are available and pets are also welcome. Explore the waterways with kayak and canoe rentals, bring the boat from home and launch in from the on site boat ramp, or fish from the dock or shore.

Take a stroll down the nature and hiking trails that wind through the park, check out the interpretive exhibit, plan activities in the rentable rec hall and pavillions or wear the kids out at the playground. Tomoka is the perfect place for wildlife viewing, manatee, dolphin, hundreds of bird and fish species, turtle and even alligators are possile finds on your next adventure. For those wild at heart and hungry for adventure, Canaveral National Seashore is the park for you.

This barrier island ecosystem contains nearly 58, acres of barrier island, open lagoon, coastal hammock, pine flatwoods, and offshore waters. The undeveloped shoreline runs 24 miles down the Atlantic coast and encompasses Mosquito Lagoon. The New Smyrna location runs 7 miles down the coast with shoreline beaches to the left and trails, lagoons, fishing docks, and historical landmarks to the right.

Camping at Canaveral is allowed by permit only since all camp sites are considered backcountry island camping and are spread throughout the property on separate islands. These sites are primitive and are the ideal destinations for those looking for complete privacy and a closer to nature vibe. Arrival is by personal watercraft only. Live like the natives, fish in the world famous lagoon, search for endless shells and seaglass down the coastline or simply indulge in relaxation on your private island.
